Hello everyone, for this post I wanted to have a little fun, and I have an update to my posting schedule. Instead of a post every single day. I’ll be posting Wednesdays and Saturdays. Wednesdays are for the rants/fun and Saturdays for my roadmap series.
Today our topic is food and instead of focusing on the governmental side. I wanted to focus on cooking. I’m new to baking in terms of years. I only started baking heavily 2 years ago. In that time however I found a passion like no other. Where was the passion? For me it was in Croissants!
It started with an experiment. I was told it was one of the hardest things to bake and I enjoy a challenge. I found my recipe, started with the process, and sweated and fretted over every step. The end product was ok, or so I thought. I handed them out at work the next day and the rave reviews came in.
Before I knew it I had a top level chef from Germany try my croissants, his remarks: “I would change nothing, that’s a perfect croissant.” This influenced me in a powerful way. I began baking them weekly. The rolling of the dough no longer felt like a nervous chore, but a triumphant accomplishment.
My dream is to one day own a croissant shop, to sell them to the masses and see everyone enjoy my food. For now I sell them word of mouth locally to people who know me. It’s a good side gig but I wish I had more time to do it.
Now as I throw around the dough I know I can’t fail. I’ve perfected my own process. The flour, the butter, the time. All picked and chosen by me. Baking gave me the ability to speak to others in a way I never knew was possible. It allows me to forget about the world around me and focus on one thing that makes me smile. Watching someone’s reaction to good food.
