Welcome back to road map, this is week 6. This week my tips will be more philosophical with a hint at housing. Buying a house and settling down is a large life decision. This leads me to ask what brings you happiness in life?
For me I find happiness in the small things. I enjoy golf, my jiu-jitsu class, baking my croissants, and being around family and friends. I enjoy my hobbies. I used to think about ideas of grandeur. Things I’d achieve and lives I ‘d build. I would like to travel a little bit more, maybe one day buy a home and maybe find that special someone who’d like to join me. If I have to wait though, that’s alright with me.
Life is an ever changing path. Every new day builds on yesterday. If I focus too much on dreams of the future I may miss to notice what I have. No one is guaranteed tomorrow. I find happiness in the little things. At the end of the day I’d rather have a million stories of what I did. Then visions of what I could have had. Find what makes you happy. Is it that big new house for your family? Is it that promotion at work? Is it that cold beer with a friend?
The moral of the story is don’t put too much stake into the world around you. Don’t compare yourself to those on social media or those with perceived riches. Don’t base your decisions on societal ideas of success. Find your happiness within the one thing that can never leave, that is, you.
Be happy in yourself, you have to live with them for a long time. Remember to try that new hobby, to take that risk, to understand your mistakes, and be ok with building back up. If you can’t find happiness in life. You haven’t looked at yourself.
