Today I wanted to talk about a new hobby I picked up this summer, golf. I never thought I’d be interested in golf. I’ve played off and on since I was a kid. I always assumed it was a pretentious sport that was easy to execute. Boy was I wrong. Now I have a membership to a local country club and I play every week multiple times a week.
I’ve played college football, I train jiu-jitsu, I lift and I run. Yet golf is one of the hardest for me to figure out. You’d think hitting a non moving ball with a large club would be self explanatory. It’s not. I find myself hitting golf balls every night trying to figure out my swing. I now even learned I’m so tall I need 1 inch longer clubs. This led me down the golf club rabbit hole.
I learned golf clubs have sizes and every club has a different size based on the club. I then figured out no club company has a standardized size: meaning. Your measurements have to be consistent because your measurements are the only ones that matter. Here I am measuring every golf club at my local pawn shop. I’ve ordered 2 clubs off of ebay I hope will work. They were $15 each so I’m not breaking the bank.
The sport alludes me everyday, and I’m now on the search for improvement to my 36 handicap game and what scares me. Only golfers will understand 90% of what I just said. Oh love to a wild sport.
