I think it would be cool if someone re-wrote George Jones old song “He Stopped Loving her Today”, but did so from the old man’s position. Well I do have a blog, let me give it a shot. Here’s what my rendition of George’s song from the main character’s perspective. Please give the original a listen if you haven’t heard it. Also please forgive me. I don’t know how to write song lyrics.
I Won’t Stop Loving You Today
You told me, “I’d forget in time”
But the days go slowly by
And you still prey upon my mind
I keep your picture on the wall
But it don’t bring no peace
Cause it makes me remember it all
I hope you come back again
I keep your letters by my bed
and I’ve underlined in red
Every single “I Love You”
I won’t stop loving you today
They have to place wreath upon my door
They’ll have to carry me away
Cause I won’t stop loving you today
I hope I’ll find my smile again
Even after all these years
I pray the thought of me
Still brings you to tears
Cause I won’t stop loving you today
They have to place a wreath upon my door
They’ll have to carry me away
I won’t stop loving you today
That’s my rendition. I assume the chorus would have maybe 1 or 2 more verses. I had this thought the other day. I hope you enjoyed the weird read. Till Saturday, have a wonderful Wednesday.
