People are like Cats

I read something not too long ago that changed the way I look at the world. Maybe it was the way it was said or the context in the meaning. The context was waiting for someone to come back into your life. Whether it be romantic or platonic we all seek some human validation. If someone takes a while to respond or ghosts you, you feel left out, alone. This is usually the start or early stages of all relationships. Now if a relationship ends, you can seek validation through follow-ups and remembrance. These too are daunting and most of the time just a way to fill the brain with unnecessary stress. As I see a single white hair on my head maybe that stress is getting to me. This was all until I read an analogy that makes it much easier to understand people.

People are like cats. Cats are peculiar when it comes to people. They have lots of love but they don’t want to be loved. They only want to be bothered when they themselves make the time. If a cat approaches you, you have as much time as the cat wants to give you. The second the cat leaves, you no longer can give love. All you can do is wait. Wait for the cat to find interest in you again. You can make yourself more interesting to the cat. Scratch posts, activities, ignoring them and just living your life. If you have a life worth following a cat will possibly appear. If not, you had your chance to love the cat. Feel grateful it gave you the opportunity even if it wasn’t for long. Now put people into this context. When they appear in your life. Give them all the love they allow you. The second they leave, don’t feel alone, sad or mad. They can go if they please. They are simply just like a cat.
