The rain splashed off his helm. His feet slipped a little as the rain made the ground slick with mud. The man across from him adjusted his pavise attached to his arm. A painting of Adam and Eve around a tall tree surrounded by swirls of gold and blue sat atop his pavise. His pole arm landed on the ground with a thud. His breath became labored with nervous thoughts and scary unknowns. The man across from him was a noble, his armor was thick and his accuracy unmatched. All he could pay attention to was that pavis on his arm. There is an opening just above it, if he swings fast enough he could hit it. The horn blew for them to start another round. He stepped forward the mud slick. He raised his war ax and caught the pole arm as it came down almost into his helm. The sight view he had through his helm made his labored breath ring in his ears with panic. He stepped left and swung up from the right a clash of metal on wood as he caught the pole arm. This man was a perfectionist not a single blow would land. Fear struck his heart. It would only take one misstep and your life would end. He quickly stepped left and swung towards the ribs. The man parreyed and quickly brought the pole arm in from the left. A loud crack shook the earth, cracked his helm, and made the crowd erupt. His head was spinning and he could feel hot blood running out of his ear. He stumbled forward, the soon to be victor stepped up and brought the pole arm down with menacing speed. His speed was perfect, but the pavis on his arm was all he could think about. With one last ditch effort he threw his war axe up towards the income left arm. A sickening crunch as the man fell back with a loud scream. The war ax embedded just above his elbow. The horn sounded and the crowd went silent. The man who once stood so proud now was rolling on the ground in misery. The king stood and bowed for a new knight was created in the mud.
