They say the story started in a small village surrounded by dark woods. The children started experiencing illnesses which could not be explained. It was said to be a trance that would lead the children from their beds late at night and deep into the woods. Families were in fear and shambles for they had no idea why it was happening. It took months for the king to hear the news. He sent the best physicians he could. Based on their writings all the kids were around the same age and had something in common. They all developed symptoms after losing their teeth. It was determined that every household would need to collect the teeth of their children as soon as they fell. Thus began the long standing tradition. The plague ended and no one knows why but we still leave our teeth under our pillow for the tooth fairy at night.
